Media: Smoke Free Sweden continues to make headlines

The Smoke Free Sweden campaign is continuing to make waves around the world. On 7 November, several international outlets published a story on Sweden’s smoke-free achievements. The Telegraph (UK), El Periodico (Spain), O Globo (Brazil), RTE (Ireland), France 24 (France), Voice of America (USA) and La Libre (Belgium) are among some of the outlets that have carried the story.

The article notes that “Sweden is poised to become Europe’s first smoke-free country”, largely due to the availability of less harmful alternatives to nicotine.

Sweden’s Minister for Health, Jakob Forssmend, is also quoted in the article, saying that the Swedish achievement is “very positive”. He also notes that the availability of less harmful alternatives has helped many Swedes to quit cigarettes.
